Mini Marcos ... the only British car to finish Le Mans in 1966

Did you know that the only British Car to Finish the 24 hour race at Le Mans in 1966 was ... "French"?

Well, the car (a Mini Marcos) was certainly British but the team that raced in June in 1966 was French, ... and it had to be!

This is one of the stories from the 24 hour race in Le Mans in 1966.

It is also a story of a little Kit Car, the Mini Marcos.

This story is much more than about a little kit car car that finished the 24 hour race at Lemans, and it is more than the Mini Marcos finishing 15th over all.

There is much more to the story. Not every manufacturer gets an invitation to compete at Le Mans and there are conditions which have to be be met.

You could call it "terms of endearment" if you'd like but auto sport is fiercely competitive and, as you will see, "the Rules are the Rules".

That's just how it is!

At 7Spot we had the privilege to interview Jeroen Booij who is the owner of the only British car to finish Lemans in 1966.

He shared with us his personal story of finding, and purchasing this priceless automotive ikon.

By his own admission, he is driven by his passion for Mini derived cars and sometimes, through networking, he finds exceptionally unique cars and stories to tell. As you will see, the 1966 Le Mans Mini Marcos lived in the shadowy world of rumours and dreams because the cars was stolen in 1975.

This 1 of 1 priceless car remained Lost to Time for a full 41 years.
