7Spot Conversations
Jim Gould and Troy Umlauf
Jim:
“Hi Troy,
I’ve been chatting with a bloke in Queensland who is building a ZX14r-powered Clubby and thought I’d ask if you might have some interest in Hosting the Show Interview for 7Spot.
He said he might even be interested in doing a bit of a build series.
Let me know if this might be of interest.”
Troy:
“Hi mate,
Sorry for the silence.
I’ve been working my arse off.
So not much time for anything else. … I think I will pass on Hosting the Interview.
I have been doing some work on my Kestrel and I’ll send you some pics.
I'm putting fuel injection on it and some new lightweight brake callipers.
Will do a story once it's done.”
In Troy’s shed, there’s always something going on.
He’s always at it, fabricating parts and building cars for customers.
But with a busy shed, there’s seldom an opportunity to find some special time with his precious Kestrel.
His clubby is a venerable bird and Troy has plans to breathe some 21st Century air into her.
Like many things in life, Getting-er-Done is a matter of Creating a Space in time and then searching for that long-lost “Round To-It”.
But Troy is an experienced fabricator.
He knows what’s to be done and, for the most part, he’s “been there and done all that”.
To make this new project happen though, he’s got a shitload of parts to buy and then there’s always the issue of the laundry list of chores to do.
For the purpose of simplicity, 7Spot is presenting this project in 3 parts:
Part 1. Fuel Injection
Machining and Metal Work
Part 2. Fuel Injection
Oh Fucl<, … Wiring!
Part 3. Brakes
Them’s the Brakes
Part 1. Machining and Metal Work
Been There and Definitely Done That … but Fabrication is a painfully Slow Process!
In Too Deep … Can’t Stop Now!
Finding your Mojo
Now Don’t That Make You Feel A Whole Lot Better?
… well, … sort of!
… up next,
Oh Fucl< … Wiring!
