So here we are , I’m here at the hotel just outside Donington race track for a Caterham (and a Westy) track day with PT Motorsport.
Friday at 7:30 ish saw me shovelling snow to get the Westy out the garage, then a carry on loading with snowy tyres and icy ramps
500 miles later we’re here
Roll on tomorrow , forecast is good so should be a good day, hope the Caterham lads are friendly ….. lol
Today dawned frosty but dry and on getting to the track which is superb with a new surface.
I met a lot of the other drivers and it was apparent the camaraderie and craic would be good.
Signed on and sighting laps done we enjoyed an open track format with some very quick cars, indeed cars and drivers of all abilities .
Donington is a great 7 track undulating and twisty, with the frost throwing another element in !!
A few spins and everyone getting some quality track time in and with the frost lifting.
For myself, the Westy now tuned again thanks to 8 ball tuning was running great and with confidence building I started pushing a bit harder, unfortunately I lost it at the chicane just before lunch , gently collecting the tyre stack as I spun, oops , so my day done with damage to the nose bonnet and radiator, could have been worse.
So tomorrow sees the journey home and some garage time ….
All in all a great day and I’ll be back for sure
